I am not sure whether I qualify. How can I know for sure?

Once your application is complete, one of our team members will talk to you about your options.

Build WyCo offers other programs to support home ownership and home improvement, and you may qualify for one of those!

Do I have to open an Individual Development Account at one of your partner banks?

Yes.

How much money can I get in matched savings?

If you saved the maximum of $2,000 over the course of 6 months to 2 years, you would have a total ending account balance of $6,000.

I don’t know if I can save $2,000. Can I still participate?

Yes! Your housing counselor can help you set up savings goals that work for you, and you can still receive matched savings. For example, if you save $1,000, you can still receive $2,000 in matched savings, for a total balance of $3,000 at the end of the program.

Will the money I receive from participating in the Matched Savings Program really help me buy a house in Wyandotte County or cover the cost of home improvements?

Yes! With a growing number of affordable houses for sale in Wyandotte County, your Matched Savings Program account balance can help cover a down payment and closing costs on your home purchase.

Build WyCo also offers other programs, like down payment assistance, which you can participate in along with the Matched Savings Program.

If you are already a homeowner and looking to improve your home, we also offer home repair and improvement loans to supplement your savings. Sometimes grants for home improvements are available, too.

Contact us for more information on how you can put our many community programs to work for you!

What kinds of home improvements or updates can I perform with my Matched Savings Program funds?

You can use the money you save and earn through the program to pay for any home improvements or upgrades your home needs, including but not limited to roofing, drywall repair, heating and cooling systems, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, plumbing and electrical, siding, and more. An investment into improving your home is a great way to protect your investment while you own it!

What if I miss a deposit, or my savings goals change?

If you’re in the program and need to pause making monthly deposits, we can work with you, depending on your situation. If you decide to permanently withdraw from the program before meeting your goal, you keep all the money you previously deposited into your account.

Thank you to our program supporters!
